Homemade Chai Tea
Enjoy your Chocolate Dipped Biscotti with some chai tea made from scratch...you will never drink store-bought chai tea again! Traditional chai is made by combing fresh spices with black tea. The result is a fragrant, spice-forward cup that is perfect for fall.
Ingredients for 3 cups
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 8 green cardamom pods, crushed
- 1 tsp whole black peppercorns, crushed
- 4 cloves, crushed
- 3 allspice berries
- 1 star anise
- 1/8 tsp Nutmeg, freshly grated
- 2-3 dried rosebuds, food-grade (optional)
- 2 ½ cups water
- 1 in knob of fresh ginger, sliced
- 3 Tbsp loose leaf black tea (or 4 tea bags)
- 2 cups Milk of choice (optional)
- Sweetener of choice (optional)
Instructions
- Add all the spices and water to a heavy bottomed pot. Bring to a boil on high heat, then reduce to medium to simmer for about 15 minutes, or until about 2/3 of the liquid remains.
- Add tea and milk and cook on low for about 5-6 minutes, covering the pot.
- Add sweetener if desired and serve!
